Welcome to ARCHIE’S Amazon Virtual Adventure - 2011
This September the ARCHIE Foundation proudly turns 11 years old - and we're celebrating once again by walking, running, swimming, rowing and even cycling down the Amazon.
Also joining us along the Amazon will be staff from Raigmore children's ward and supporters of the Highland Appeal. On March 18th 2011, the ARCHIE Foundation took a significant step towards this goal, becoming the official charity of child health in the Highlands too. Our priority in the Highlands is to completely redevelop the Children's Ward in Raigmore Hospital.
Exactly as we did, and continue to do, in Grampian, ARCHIE will work closely with the children, their families and the healthcare teams to ensure our local children have a world-class healthcare service no matter where they access it. Our goal is to provide the best healthcare services available - but we need your help!
This year all proceeds for Aberdeen will go towards the ARCHIE paediatric Pain
Management Nurse Appeal. Chronic pain management in children is not a core NHS service, and together with training and specialist equipment, costs £50,000 each year to provide. We believe it makes a real difference but we desperately need your help to fund this crucial service.

ARCHIE Amazon also acts as an excellent team-building event for the groups and companies involved and is an excellent focus for keeping fit."

The ARCHIE Foundation is the official charity of The Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital and Community Based Child Health throughout Grampian, the Highlands and the Northern Isles. 'Making the Difference' for thousands of children and their families every year we provide the extras such as new medical equipment, toys, specialist training for staff and support for families when their children are in hospital. We even fund some key staff posts within the Children's Hospital too - you can find our more by visiting our website here.
